FOMETRON: LASER SENSOR — LINEAR INFRARED RADAR Operating Principle: As a civilian application of military technology, it enables unmanned photography through a radar-based system. Any object struck by the infrared laser beam extending forward in the direction of the lens will trigger the shutter and capture a photograph, provided the object is within the selected distance range. The effective shooting distance can be adjusted using the potentiometer on the Fometron device. The effective operating range of the Fometron is programmed according to the focusing characteristics of the camera. For example: • If 1 meter is selected: approximately 80–120 cm, • For 10 meters: approximately 7–15 meters. The device remains inactive outside the selected distance range (both before and beyond it). Since the system operates using laser detection technology, the size and darkness/color density of the target object become increasingly important for detection as the distance increases . At short distances, because the laser refraction angle is narrow, it is also possible to monitor behind glass surfaces. Models effective from 10 meters up to 30 meters are available. It can be used with all DSLR cameras. Usage: The protective carrying case includes the Fometron device, battery, charging unit, and connection cable (selected according to your camera model). After connecting the cable to the camera and attaching the specially rechargeable battery to the device, the system is ready for use. After setting your camera to manual mode, adjust the shutter speed and aperture according to the environment and your intended shooting conditions. Then set both the Fometron and the camera to the same manual distance setting and leave them in position. Your camera’s “stay awake” duration should be set to at least 10 minutes. The camera and the device battery can operate for several days without recharging. When an object is detected, the red LED indicator on the device lights up. For night shooting, the camera’s own flash may be used. Warning: Like any optical device, it should be protected from impacts, pressure, and drops. Do not use any external power source other than its own battery. Operating temperature range is between -15°C and +30°C. Avoid direct eye exposure while the device is active.
